Waseda Preps Language School
Waseda Preps' main campus is in Komagome, Kita-ku, Tokyo, with a second campus in Koenji, Suginami-ku. Three university-prep programs are offered: starting April (2 years), July (1 year 9 months), or October (1 year 6 months), open to students with JLPT N5/CEFR A1, or at least 150 hours of prior Japanese study for the April/July intakes and 450 hours for the October intake.
The curriculum builds academic readiness — writing reports, giving presentations, and holding discussions in Japanese — alongside everyday language skills for engaging with Japanese society, preparing students to continue on to university or graduate school in Japan.

Shizuoka International Language School
Founded in October 1989 in Fukuroi, between Shizuoka and Hamamatsu, the school has more than 30 years of experience teaching Japanese. Morning and afternoon sessions run on a two-shift system, and students come from a mix of Asian countries — a small, quiet town rather than a big city. The 2-year program (1,600 hours) targets JLPT N3 and above, with extra guidance toward N2 for students planning to continue to university. The school accepts applicants from N5 level, with April and October intakes and dormitory support for students from out of town.
AFC International Academy
AFC International Academy (AFC国際学院) is in Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City — a Shinkansen stop about an hour from Tokyo and Nagoya, and 1.5 hours from Kyoto. Opened in April 2023 by AFC-HD AMS Life Science Co., Ltd., its building houses classrooms and a dormitory together, so international students live right where they study. Two further-study programs are offered: an 18-month course (October intake, 1,200 hours) building toward JLPT N2 and leading to university or vocational school, and a 2-year course (April intake, 1,600 hours) building toward JLPT N1 and leading to university or graduate school. In October 2025, the Nagoya Regional Immigration Services Bureau designated the school an "Appropriate School (Class II)."
Tokyo Galaxy Japanese Language School
Founded in April 1986 in Shinkawa, Chuo-ku — a quiet business district in central Tokyo near Nihonbashi and Ginza — Tokyo Galaxy Japanese Language School is recognised under Japan's School Education Act, with its university-preparatory course designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Its comprehensive Japanese course is split into 11 ability-based levels, from beginner to advanced, alongside dedicated tracks for university admission, graduate school preparation, and business Japanese. Intakes open in January, April, July and October, with programs from 3 months to 2 years depending on visa status. Students come from Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and as far as Europe and the US.
