Nihongo Journey: Our Free Japanese Learning App

Besides classes, we built a learning app of our own. It is called Nihongo Journey. You open it in the browser on your phone or laptop, with nothing to install, and it is free. Just sign in with Google. No ads, no subscription, no lessons locked behind payment.

The idea is simple: you don't only memorise vocabulary, you practise real situations in Japan, so that when you arrive you are used to them and more confident about communicating.

• Start from zero. Can't read hiragana yet? No problem. The first world opens with the Kana Academy, short hiragana and katakana lessons. Romaji helps you until you can read kana.
• Learn kanji. Hundreds of N5 to N4 kanji with meanings, readings and example words. There is also an extra word bank of nearly a thousand words that you can add to your own study list.
• Life-in-Japan simulations. More than a hundred missions across six worlds, from N5 to N1. You practise answering in conversations at airport immigration, on trains, in convenience stores, at school and in job interviews. Locations unlock as you progress.
• Listen and repeat. Listen to real sentences from the missions, then say them back. The app does not record your voice and gives no pronunciation score. It is self-practice to get your ears and tongue used to the language.
• What you miss comes back. Words and kanji you often get wrong are scheduled to return, so you repeat exactly what is still weak.
• Free placement tests. There are two: N5 to N4 and N3 to N1, 90 questions each. The result appears at once, is saved to your profile and can be sent to our consultants over WhatsApp. The tests check your Japanese against JLPT-level material. They are not the official JLPT and give no JLPT certificate.

The app is available in Indonesian and English. Learning this way does not guarantee an exam result or fluent speech, but it helps you practise a little every day, from anywhere. Anyone can start on their own first, even before joining our classes.

Language Schools in Japan

Many people start their journey through a language school. You study Japanese in Japan, live there, and may work part-time (arubaito) up to 28 hours a week under student visa rules.
